Notate

Notate is a native, system-wide macOS app for situations where pointing beats describing.

Freeze the exact state you need—including open menus, hover states, and focused controls—or record a short sequence and scrub to the frame where something changes or breaks. Add numbered pins, arrows, and automatically snapped shapes to make every note precise.

Use Notate for:

• design and motion reviews
• product walkthroughs
• visual bug reports
• code review and developer handoffs
• feedback for teammates or multimodal coding agents

Export a clean annotated image or structured Markdown, and save portable `.notate` sessions that can be reopened later. Notate is local-first, free, open source, and MIT licensed. It requires macOS 15 or later.
